New Student Orientation
Welcome to our Community of Bears! Whether you are joining us as a first-time college student or transferring from another institution, you are welcome here! As a students-first university, UNC is committed to supporting your journey and that starts with setting you up for success through our New Student Orientation (NSO) programs. NSO sessions are required, one-day programs, taking place before you begin classes.
Prior to arriving for your NSO session, students will need to complete their Pre-Orientation Checklist available in your Admitted Student Portal. For students who are unable to complete their checklist beforehand, we will provide access to computer stations upon arrival. Completing your checklist should take no more an hour, or two, at most.
If you have questions or are unable to attend any of the NSO dates, please contact us to discuss your options.
Registration is required and family/support persons are encouraged to attend. Sign in to your admitted student portal to register.
During Orientation, attendees will:
- Meet current students and connect with future classmates
- Discover UNC's culture and traditions!
- Learn about support services, pickup your Student ID Card
- Eat lunch on-campus
- Meet with academic advisors
- Register for classes
